Before I start I would like to say that this course was wonderful and
that I have learned a ton of new thing.
5 things that I liked about this class:
1-I like the fact that we have learned things in this class that we could
actually use in the real world of business.
2-I also like that we get to do the work on our own time, which leaves a
lot of flexibility for those students who have busy schedules, such as my
self.
3-The material thought in this course are very up to date and do are the
equipment and facilities that are used.
4-I liked the fact that we were given enough time for our assignments and
projects.
5-The professor (you miss)was very friendly and understanding, knew the
subject and was a good teacher.
things that could be improved on next year:
1-The computers crash too often during the term, if something could be
done to prevent this from happening in would be great.
2-If this class was offered more than one day for each section that would
help us more because then we would have more assistance from you.
3-For group work, if each individual member in the group was given an
individual mark as well as a group mark it would encourage more group work.

This course was the most interesting out of all the courses I have taken
since being at Seneca. I guess I can also say that it was the most fun
although a lot of work was required. At times I found that working with
computers is extremely frustrating, and if I had my way I would never have
to see one. However, the world is to hi tech for us not to have
computers. Although I thought the course was pretty good, I think we
should have had more than three hours a week. Maybe I would have had less
trouble. In conclusion, this course is an excellent tool for future
business careers, especially since everyone is using computers.
_____________________________________________________________________
I had a blast in your course, and come
along from the worlds biggest computer idiot.. I can honestly say I do not have
to call myself that anymore.. You have made me see the light in a
enjoyable manner.. and can honestly say!! I know my way around the computer
world now.. thanks..
The only thing I would change is the telnet vs. composer thing it
is so much easier to use composer since that is what we will need in the
future and business world.. Why not start to teach it now.

Five things I liked about the course:
1. A three hour time block once a week. It's much more effective than a
two hour and a one hour time block... more can be accomplished. With a
one hour timeblock... attendance is usually weak and little work happens.
2. During web page making... I liked how you used the projector and let
us follow what you were doing. It is helpful for first time users.
3. Quick helpful response. You reply to your mail quickly and help as
much as possible. It is real frustrating when a teacher neglects to
reply.
4. Optional books. Since the course has no required text, it is helpful
that you recommended easy to use books. Also, you never said that we HAD to purchase them. I
hate buying books when they do not get used. I did
purchase the "Create Amazing Web Pages" book and it is a good starter
book.
5. The response forums. It is nice to be able to let your mind wander
and use a little bit of creativity. It's nice to be able to speak your
mind about topics such as the teachers strike. For so many courses, all
conversation stays in regards to the course. I know that all students can
read other responses, but maybe at the beginning of each class, it could
be interesting to hear some of the better or more humerous responses from
the previous week. You have to read them all... maybe you could jot down
the most interesting ones to be discussed in the next class. It helps
class members interact a bit more and actually learn what they are like.
And since at the beginning, we usually wait for late comers, this can
help start the day and pass the time more effectively.
Five things I did not like about the course:
1. Terrible acoustics. I know this is no fault of yours. Maybe for presentations for
powerpoint, you could reserve the A/V room by the
library. Just have all presenters bring their diskettes to class. It
also allows for the students to become more familiar with using the
remote. When presenting in other courses, we have to use the remote and
many students are very awkward with it. When in the A/V room, since it is
smaller, you can hear them present. When you can't hear, your mind
wanders and you don't pay attention. Also, the A/V room is set up better
for presenting and everyone would be able to see a full screen projection.
2. Monitors off. I think that it should be computer off. Many students
dim their monitor so dark that it looks like they are off. They become
busy with their email, search the web, and always, sit and finish their
presentation. I don't feel that it is fair to be prepared to present and
sit and watch the guy beside you cram and finish beside you. It's
actually quite annoying. If you booked the A/V room, they have no choice
but to be done. They can either sink or swim.
3. Group work. I have a distaste for group work. Someone like D
did not do any work with us. These kind of things always happen. It causes
unnecessary frustration. Group work also wastes time.
I am not a big fan of wasting time. Everyone lives so far away at our
school, it's not like people live on or near campus, it is really hard to
meet up with people.
I can't think of anything else.
I know of one little suggestion: In the create amazing web pages book, it
tells you web sites to go to for images, colour lists, horizontal bars,
wallpaper and many other things. I wrote them all down an post-it-notes
and stuck them all in the front of my textbook. If would be helpful for
future student to have access to these addresses. You could possibly make
a hand out of them or you could post them in the week by week.
I hope any of my suggestions are helpful. I must say, this course is as
fun and interesting as you make it. I enjoyed myself and I hope that I
haven't been too much of a pain in the butt! If you want my notes of the
addresses... let me know.

Five things I thought were great about the course:
1. The forums are an excellent idea!
2. Had fun creating my own web page!
3. Enjoyed learning how to use power point!
4. Good idea to be able to e-mail questions or concerns!
5. The teacher was very informative and polite!
Five things I think need to be looked over:
1. Group work dealing with creating a team web page. It was very difficult
to meet with team members.
2. More explanation or helpful hints for using power point as well as creating web pages.
3. More individual assignments.
4. Don't think the journals were very useful to the course because many
simply use their agenda for any information or reminders of what they
did or had to do.
5. Maybe throughout the course we could each choose a partner that we
could work with and also be helpful as well for each other in case one
person knows some tips that another person does not know!
Overall, this course was very well planned out! You did a great job
teaching the course!
___________________________________________________________________________
I think this course was a very good one! I enjoyed learning new skills and
techniques that I was not familiar with before! I think you did a
wonderful job teaching this course! keep up the great work! I also would
like to take the time to thank you for helping me when I was in need. I
really am impressed with all the work you have done to teach. I think
your web page is very impressive and took a lot of work to accomplish it.
You must have a lot of patience which is a good thing to have for this type
of course. The course itself is a challenge to teach and grade all the
assignments.
Overall, you are a great teacher and the course itself is very
interesting!
___________________________________________________________________________________
Five Things that I liked about the course.
1. I liked the fact that we were able to use our knowledge in other
courses and use them in this course.
2. The fact that Powerpoint was easy to use.
3. The fact that you allowed students to come to more then their scheduled
class.
4. The practice jiffy page that you let us do.
5. The help you gave us using HTML
Five things That I think can be improved.
1. That some of our assignments and tasks should be mention in class.
2. That the webpage and how to use a webpage be taught in the beginning of
the school year.
3. The fact that course spent the majority of the time on powerpoint
program.
4. The fact that group presentations should be given more time than
individual assignments.
5. That the codes for html are taught to us. The codes weren't given
meaning and it was hard to work the webpage at first without knowing the
codes.
__________________________________________________________________________
The class was not really hard but it took a long time to do the work.
The class was interesting and I think that it will help me in the future,
work and entertainment. The idea of yours to make us do it on our own at
first had me freaked out but I managed and it worked well.
you are a very good teacher and very understanding Great job
Although I originally thought I wouldn't enjoy this computer course I've
been amazed that although at times I wanted to rip my hair out I
actually enjoyed creating my web page. What's even more shocking is that
although at the beginning of the semester I said I was still not comfortable with
computers (even though I've had my own computer for over a year), I
believe that I am more confident using a computer and I actually, for once know
what I'm doing.
___________________________________________________________________________
Five things I enjoyed about the course was learning to create an
Attractive web page, the independence that we had both in class as well as with
assignments, not having to take notes was also a plus, learning to surf the net (Wow,
it really is easy), and being more confident with using computers.
Five suggestions that I have for chances in the class ease students
into independent learning (eg.with forums, provide written instructions
of how to get to forums), spend a few more classes on instructing
students on how to create a web page, not emphasize to buy books (I
found it a lot more effective to learn through trial and error than using
books), not to spend as much time on power point presentations, and maybe to put
power point presentations a the end of the course.
It was nice to meet you and thank you for helping us with our team web
page problems. I wish you the best in your future.
___________________________________________________________________________
The five things I liked about this course are: Group Work/Doing
Presentations/A lot of class time was available/Good Teacher/Good
Classmates
The five things I did not like about this course: Web page
problems/Finding time outside class to do assignments/The time was early
for class 8:00 AM/Wanted to know more about computers(not enough time in
the course)/The course was frustrating at times, due to other courses in
the way.
___________________________________________________________________________
5 things I liked about the course
1. I learned how to create my own web page.
2. I had the chance to work with others and see how their web pages worked
3. I became familiar about Power Point presentations
4. I liked the independence of the workload.
5. I enjoyed the overall classroom situation.
5 things that could be improved upon
1. Course to be offered twice a week,
2. No journals I thought that they were quite useless, because I was able
to bookmark everything I needed.
3. More teaching about the programs.
4. Less people in the groups
5. No presentations about everyone's web pages, tends to get tedious and
boring.
__________________________________________________________________________
I enjoyed this course very much, and I must say I learned a lot about
computers which I will be able to use in the future. I'm glad that Seneca
offers this to the Marketing students. I think it should be offered to
everyone.
___________________________________________________________________________
In the future, I will be thankfull that I took this course. I
found the class to be very interesting. At the beginning, I did not have
any knowledge about power point and webpage making. Now I find my self
very knowledgeable thanks to this course.
Selia, I would like to thank you for being a good guide for your
students. Keep up the good work, and I hope that I end up with an A
distinguished.
_______________________________________________________________________________
I am very happy that I was in your class, I felt that I learned a lot and
I have more respect for the computer.
I am now using the computer daily and I am going to continue to learn more
computer software and programming. My webpage days have only begun.
______________________________________________________________________________
Five things I liked about the course
1. I was basically computer (well, internet) illerate before, and this
class made it easy for me to understand about the way computers work
2. Learning power point was really helpful in my other classes
3. Working on the team web page was easier than trying to figure it out
ourselves.
4. It was easy to understand your instructions
5. I liked going on the net to get my work, it made it alot of fun
Five things I didn't like so much
1. too early
2. too early
3. too early
4. too early
5. I think we should have spent more time on the internet, rather than on
power point.
____________________________________________________________________
5 things I liked
1. You were always accessible by e-mail - most teachers are not so you
have to run around the school to track them down if you need them
2. e-mail accessibility - extremely prompt, usually same day service -
that was great
3. relaxed atmosphere in classroom
4. not too much undue emphasis placed on attendance - was very good for
me because I had to work a lot this semester but i always made sure that
i kept up at home
5. you were always very supportive giving praise where praise was due -
most professors just give you your marks and don't congratulate you in
any way for outstanding work - you always did that which made me strive
to get 100% on an assignment instead of just an A
6. I also appreciate that you appreciate our hard work by considering
giving students distinguished A's - a lot of teachers won't consider it
unless you have 99% in the course - I think it is just as important to
reward a student who has a 87% with a distinguished A because you have
seen that they have worked especially hard.
(TEACHERS NOTE (96-100 is A/D in my class - not 87 sorry)
1 thing I didn't like
At the beginning of the course, you were not as friendly and helpful as
you were after about the third class. When we started, it seemed like
you didn't really like us that much but after only a few classes, you're
personality dramatically changed and we felt a lot better about being in
class. I hope this doesn't offend you at all. It was just something that
I noticed. I was quite happy after the 3rd class because you were a lot
nicer. Maybe you had other things on your mind...
No matter. That was the only negative comment I could come up with for
the course.
________________________________________________________________________________
Things that I like about the course,
1.It increased my creativity
2. Taught me to make more effective presentations by using Power point
3. Taught me to make my web pages (team &individual) full with graphics that
make an impact.
4. Helped me to be more compatible with the computer.
5.Facinating class, everyone should take.
Things that the course could improve,
1.Maybe guiding the students through on how to make their web pages,
because it was difficult.
2.Spend more time on web pages, not power point
3. Not have classes so early in the morning
4. Not have so many students.5. I don't have anything else I don't like!!!
____________________________________________________________________________
Hello, I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed taking this course this
semester!
Five things I liked:
-we learned concepts that we can use in the future
-the material was all new so there was no repetition
-we worked independently and were responsible for whether we got things
done
-some of the projects allowed us to work in groups which was fun!
-allowed us to practice our creativity
things that could be improved:
-I know your not responsible for this, 8:00 am classes!
-going through the lessons step by step so that everyone knows what's
going on
_________________________________________________________________
There were many good good things about this course that I could
think about and not so many bad things. I'm going to tell you 5 good
things about this course and 5 bad things, or how it could be improved.
5 good things about this course is: Learned how to make web pages
and learn powerpoint, become more creative, learned more about the
computer, the chance to meet more people and becoming more familiar with
the different programs.
5 bad things, or could use improvements. The first thing is that
the class is to early, too many people, do not get the personal attention
that might be needed, more explanation and more time to prepare.
___________________________________________________________________
Five Things I liked:
- informative
- fun
- thought provoking
- interesting
- useful for my future
- well organized
Five Things That Could be Changed:
- more explanation on web pages
- more time to prepare
- more in class web pages
- smaller groups for group work
- more interesting forum topics to you than us
________________________________________________________________________
Five Things I liked about the course:
1. It was fun, since I like computers
2. I enjoyed the projects we did
3. We had a very good teacher :)
4. I improved my skills in Power Point
5. It was not boring.
Five things I didn't like about the course:
1. The standards were set too low
2. Therefor all the good work that I did got the same mark with work
that I thought was poorly done by other people
3. The class was too early in the morning
5. I thought our team webpage was a lot better than the one done by
another team
________________________________________________________________
1. I found the course to be very fun. It was interesting watching other
students make webpages and power point presentations.
2. I liked that the course actually focused around things that are
useful to know, such as the internet and making webpages. Even though
I had previously knew how to make them, if i did not, This would have
been really cool. I also think that Power Point was a good program to
focus the rest of the course around.
3. I liked your online webpage for people to go and see what's going on
in your course. Not many teachers offer that. I think that's very good
of you to have for your students. I wish more teachers did that.
4. The Forum was also very interesting. Even though I did not write my
messages until the last minute. Once in the forum, I was reading
everyone's messages. It was very interesting to see others views on the
subjects at hand.
5. The course in general is very good. keep up the good work, Selia
Just one comment.. ask your supervisors or tech guys if they can install
MS Explorer on the server. Its a great program. It would be best to
have Explorer and Netscape.
___________________________________________________________________
Here are some suggestions for this course:
- standardize the method in creating web pages.
- I personally prefer more individual work rather than team work, since
it is really hard to find good team mates.
- talk more details in creating web pages.
Things that I really liked about the course and what I accomplished:
- give us a chance to create personal home page. Though it is hard, I
did it. It really gives me an good experience.
- teach me how to use PowerPoint that is really helpful for my other
presentations as well as future.
- though I haven't made good use of the log, it still helps me a lot.
Because I wrote all the useful and interesting sites that help me in
creating my web page.
- I love the course because it can stimulate my creative attribute.
___________________________________________________________________________
I must say that I certainly have learned a lot over the semester, after all
I came into class, without even going on the internet. I really enjoyed
your class and here are my comments:
Five things I liked:
1) you left the course with a lot of knowledge about the internet and web
pages
2)I liked the course material ie. power point it was useful in our other
classes as well
3)I liked the way that you distributed marks ie. a lot of smaller
assignments over the semester
4) we worked in a nice relaxing environment, I liked your teaching methods5) making your own
web pages is an excellent opportunity
A few changes
1) I would like it if the class was broken up into two days, instead of
the one
2)the course should teach Composer when making web pages for those that
have a hard time with html
3) teach how to make web pages earlier on in the course that way students
are able to work on them over the course of the semester
4)smaller classes might be easier to work with
5)the idea of a lab attached to the course in a time slot without the
teacher but it allows students to work on their assignments. There are
designated time slots that students enlist for.(just a thought)
___________________________________________________________________________
Five Things I Liked
1. Your availability - you are always there whenever we needed you
2. Power Point - it was very interesting and fun to do
3. Class Effort - most students were willing to help those who needed
help
4. Teaching mode - allowed us to learn at our own pace
5. Everything - from teacher to material taught in class
Things to improve
I don't have much to say about this. The only thing I can think about
is: if possible, post all the major assignments from the beginning of
the semester instead of weekly. This might give students a better idea
of the work load and they can plan their time. They will also know
about the assignments in advance, therefore they will be able to use
their time wisely and won't have excuses for late or missed assignments.
(TEACHER'S NOTE - The course overview gives this information from day one)
In overall, this was a great course, you know what, I wouldn't mind
taking it again. I have learnt a lot from it and I am sure there is
still more for me to learn. I remember when we first started, I didn't
even know what powerpoint was; now, I am doing wonderful presentations
on Power Point. Thanks
________________________________________________________________________
5 things I liked were:
1. The Material being offered was interesting
2. The Method in which the material was taught was effective
3. The Equipment provided was adequate and useful.(books)
4. Your class objectives and outlines for assignments were alwas posted
in due time on the net
5. Giving students time to complete assignments when the computers went
down was very accommodating
4 things I thought needed improvement:
1. More time for assignments
2. Class was way too early and made it hard to concentrate
3. A lot of students didn't help with group work
4. The Overhead Projection machine didn't always properly function.
_____________________________________________________________________
The five things that I liked and accomplished are:
1. I can now use PowerPoint to create presentations and slide shows that I
once thought were impossible to do.
2. The content I learned will be extremely useful to me in the job market.
3. I learned to create a web page to market myself and my skills to
potential employers, which gives me a better advantage over my
competition.
4. The advantages of being part of a team or group and how to distribute
the workload and contribute ideas.5. I really enjoyed you as a teacher and found that the
assignments and homework you gave greatly increased my knowledge and decreased my
hesitancy when it came to working with the various programs. I am a lot
wiser now than I used to be.
I have only two minor suggestions for improvement in this course:
1. The last few weeks of the course were very condensed when it came to
workload. Maybe this should be spread out evenly throughout the term.
2. I personally found MS Front Page and Netscape Web Composer a lot easier
to work with than the HTML we were taught. I think the students would be
more comfortable with the others. Just a suggestion.
__________________________________________________________________________
5 things I liked about the course:
1. Assignments were relevant to the in class instruction
2. Information was given in various modes to aide the understanding
process
3. Information was interesting and the skills learned are relevant in
today's society
4. Your evaluation and response time in answering questions was very fast
5. E-mail is a great tool for getting help and evaluations
5 things I think could use improvement:
1. smaller groups for the group assignments
2. more time to work on web pages
3. web tutorials
4. more sites to help with getting graphics
5. less of one group evaluating another
I think the way the class is set up right now is very effective. The
forums are also a good idea! Thanks for all your help.
_______________________________________________________________________
First I want to apologies for not being in class so much in the
second half of the semester. I found a full time job that I could not pass
up, and so I had to revolve my studies around the job. But I did enjoy
your class a lot you were funny, interesting, to the point, you explained
everything with actual visuals from your experiences, which was very
helpful, and you appreciated everyone's effort. I have nothing bad to say
about your class. Keep up the good work.
_______________________________________________________________________
Five best things:
1. thorough details in week-by-week
2. class a good length
3. assignments taught us a lot
4. Selia, you are very knowledgeable on all topics
5. this new net information gives us such an "edge" as mktg students
above others
Five Improvements:
1. move a little slower, it seems like you expect us to know what we are
doing from the beginning a many of us don't
2. more detailed instructions on how to use page composer would be nice
3. html seemed a bit confusing, is there an easier way to teach it?
4. group work was to annoying: I learned more via the projects I did by
myself; we do so much group work in other classes, and I would have
preferred to do more things by myself because it was too difficult to
always find times, computers, etc. for a bunch of people
5. powerpoint assignments : I really enjoyed these, I wish there
could have been more.
_________________________________________________________________________
We thought your course outline is very useful for our future career. It
has expand our general knowledge and release our fear towards computers.
PowerPoint enable us to develop much more effective presentation skills.
Creating our own web page allow us to explore a new language we would
never be able to encounter from other courses. Thanks for enhancing our
comprehension knowledge towards computer.
In our opinion the course could have been easier if more step by step
in class demonstration were done. PowerPoint lessons should have been
reduce in order to focus more towards creating our web page.
_____________________________________________________________________________
I really enjoyed this course!! My knowledge has developed a lot
more. I also liked the idea that we earned points in the class. That's
how it should be!!! I had lots of fun in this course!!!
The five things I liked about the course were:
1. It was very practical and useful material that I feel I can use in
the business world.
2. Text books were quite helpful.
3. I enjoyed working independently and as a team. It gave me the
chance to work with others, and to get to know them, and to also work
independently.
4. You made yourself known that you were always available for help and
to answer any questions.
5. You always had interesting facts and sites that we could visit on
the week to week lessons. We were always kept informed of what was
going on in the course.
The five things I didn't like:
1. The web pages should have been worth more than 15% considering the
amount of time (and frustration!) it took.
2. I would have liked to have covered more in the course, other than
just Power Point and web pages. These are very valuable tools, but I'm
sure there is more out there.
3. I would have liked to have spent more time in class talking about
web pages. I felt very confused and overwhelmed, and I don't want to
count on my team members to know what is going on.
4. Sometimes I felt silly asking you a question. I'm not familiar with
computer lingo and terms, and sometimes I felt like you thought I was
stupid. This may not have been the case, but that's how it came across.
5. Do a log check every couple of weeks, reading through them. If it
seems like someone is having a lot of difficulty, invite them to talk to
you. Sometimes people may feel intimidated to ask.
Overall, I liked the course and feel I learned a lot that will help me
in the future. Thanks for all your help.
