Creating a Web Page with a Web Editor

Please note, instructions are for FrontPage Express but similar tools can be found in Netscape 4

Open the Web Editor.

1. For Windows 98 - Go to Start - Program - Internet Explorer - FrontPage Express

2. In Netscape 4, go to File - New - Blank Page

3. In Netscape 4 go to Communicator on the top tool bar and click to open menu, select Composer

Create a Title

1. Begin typing the text you want to use for the title

2. Select the text by highlighting it. (place your curser at the beginning of the word and drag across the word until it is selected.

3. Where it says Normal, click on the arrow to see other choices for size of font, select a heading size.

4. Find the icon that helps you cahnge the color of the font, highlight the words and change the color.

5. Click on the icon for placing the text for the title. - right, left or center

6. Decide if you want to use bold, italics or underlining of a word.

Insert an Image

1. Find the icon that you click to insert an image - click on it.

2. Browse to find a graphic file (.gif or .jpg) to insert.

3. When you have located the file, click open.

4. Select the image and click on a placement icon (right, left or center)

Add Links

(Adding web page links and an e-mail link)

1. Click on the icon on the toolbar for creating a hyperlink

2. Go to the tab that says World Wide Web

3. Select http: type of hyperlink and write in the URL for your link (for example: http://www.citytv.com)

4. Click OK

5. Repeat steps one and two

6. Select hyperlink type mailto: and type in your e-mail address

7. Click OK

Date

1. Go to WebBot component icon

2. Click on timestamp

3. Date your web page- for example - 08/06/99

Save your page

1. Go to File

2. Click on Save

3. Select As File

4. Name the file and use the extension .htm or .html in the name

5. Save the file to a folder you have made for keeping your web pages

 

That's It - You have created your web page. To edit the page just click on the file and continue to revise until you are satisfied. Resave the file.
