Before you start this class, get more computer knowledge such as micro Dos., it will be very helpful for this class. Also, don't worry and keep hard working, you will be successful. God bless you!
don't get frustrated just keep on plugging away
Don't worry so much about what everyone else is doing, or not doing. Just work hard, and you will be rewarded! This is your future, so deal with it!
The best advice that I can honestly say is always work ahead of the class because any problems that you run into can be solve the next class. Another thing, never miss any class. I honestly enjoyed using the computer, but I wish I was able to learn more on composing a web page. I find it very helpful that i was taught to use the PowerPoint because it has so many different uses.
To begin, this is an excellent course. Remember all your lessons well. Computers will give you the competitive advantage in any given work related situation. The work in the course is not hard, just a little confusing. With a little diligence you will come out with an A. Selia Karsten is one of the best professors you will come across. Try to remember what she says and for goodness sake, be patient.
I am really glad that I took this course. I learned so much especially about making web pages and power point. The advice I give the new victims, be prepared for trial and error. That is the only way you are really going to learn and retain everything. For the first web page I stayed at school for 9 hours experimenting and trying to understand how the bloody thing works. People have got to be willing to put in the time in order to see the fruits of their labour. Don't and I repeat don't leave anything for the last minute. Especially when it comes to computers. I swear I lost a lot of hair. And when doing powerpoint make back up copies, (I learned the hard way). Basically listen, and ask questions of the teacher and other students. As far as improvement in the course, I feel the team web page, should have been the business concept it works better than having your personal page a business concept. Although you are suppose to be selling yourself, a lot of people felt confused and not sure what to put on because you were kinda limited. Anyhow I enjoyed the course. I honestly feel everything I learn will be practical. .
The advice I would give the new students who are taking this course is keep your cool and ask as many questions as you can. That way you can find the easiest way to do everything...which means less stress.
The best advice I can give you is: Make sure that you don't leave things to the last minute. It is going to take you much longer to publish web pages than you think. Try to maintain your sanity. Have fun!
The best possible advice I can give is, do not get discouraged even when it seems hopeless. The computer can be your best friend, or your worst enemy. Just remember to be relaxed even if you lose some material in the computer. If you stay calm and regroup It can be done. Coming from being a computer idiot, to being able to create a web page, Hey if I can do it anyone can.
First of all I would like to say that this course is one of the best courses that I have ever taken. I have learned a lot of things that I could really use in the real world such as: How to create web sites, how to do professional business presentations on the MS PowerPoint and lot of other useful thing. The key here is to always be in class, because the material that is thought to you in class is only done ONCE a week, so make sure you are in class on the scheduled day. good luck to you all and have fun.
I advise you to show up for every class. I really enjoyed this class and I think that I did very good in this class because I worked very hard! I also think that you should get your posting done right away so that you don't fall behind. Finally, make sure that you and your group members work on your presentation assignments right away, do not leave it to the last minute! I think that Selia is an excellent professor and I'm sure that you will agree with me. Good luck
My advice to any students next semester is to not leave web site assignment until last minute. If you do this you will have no problem in this course.
I believe I am going to finish this course and you won't see me in the same class with you, and the followings is the advice for you to get a high mark in this course: 1) Don't skip, especially when you are learning how to create a web page. 2) Remember, you have to write a message to the teacher every week, check the learning link every week. 3) Don't trust the computers, they always turn you down. 4) Have a backup disk on every project. 5) Creative is necessary on your work. 6) Make notes on what you have learn will make thing smoothly. Actually, I didn't do the above suggestion, that's why I don't have a high mark on this course. And it is a very easy course to get a high mark, it you desire a high GPA, it is the course for it if you work hard.
The best advice I could give is to really think about who you are going to work with. This is really important because you will be working with these people all year. Working with people you get along with and like makes it easier and fun.
I would have to say that the best advice I can give to future students is to attend all classes in order to understand the topics covered. It would be in their best interest not to fall behind on assignments. Furthermore, if it is at all possible I advise them to start their projects in advance so that they may seek help in time.
I suggest that all students don't take this course lightly there are a lot of areas that can help you improve towards job success for the future all these skills should be taken seriously. Come to class regularly and do all the assignments they are all important
Keep up to date with your work especially when starting web page making. Web page making will be very time consuming so start early. the course is fun if you choose to learn. If your not sure ask the teacher or someone with proper knowledge on the subject. Have fun!!
Creating my web page was really fun, but I spent a lot of time. When I finished my homepage, I felt very proud and very happy. I could tell my friends that I had made a beautiful homepage and invite them to see it. Now, the course is nearly completed, so I would like to give a little bit of advice to the next semester students. Before they start a homepage, they should draw a plan. Then, try to get all their information first, and write down the details for it. You must use trial and error, then you will succeed. If you have any question, as "Teacher" or "Help Desk" in the Annex. They will help you. After I finished the course, I hope I can use these skills and build another more professional web site. My suggestions are, "Try More", "Practice More", and "Ask More".
The best and only advice that you will need for this class is to get a head start. Start as soon as you can because you will never finish on time. There is a lot of work and you must be prepared to spend a lot of time with the assigned projects. It is all worth it though because the things you learn to do in this class are extremely valuable.
The best advice for new students is: -Design the web page or ideas before using the computer. For instance you won't lose time. -After saving your creations on the drive a , you can give them permissions to all your files. -Make sure that all your files and pictures are in one disk. -If you run of space for pictures, you can save them as a small size and enlarge them in your page (If your using the Page Composer) -Make sure that you have all the commands if you are using the Telnet account.
You ask, what could be the best advice I could give for this class? Try to attend ALL the classes. Even if you are a computer dunce you will benefit from actually seeing what you are supposed to be doing. You can take that opportunity to ask questions of the teacher, too. Also, make the very best effort to complete every project. And always, ALWAYS try your best. You may not succeed, but you will at least feel better knowing that you did the very best you could. Best of luck to you all in the future!!
This semester is nearly finished. Time really fly!! What is the best advise for this class to the students for next semester? I think I will suggest students to always attend classes and bring a log. It is really important. Normally this class is in the 8:00 am session. I know for students is really hard to get up early. However, if you miss classes, you will be fail to do the power point presentation and web page. Besides, you have to always bring your log. This class has a lot of homework and the homework is from teacher's web page. So it is very important to bring log to write down the important information. So attending classes and bring a log are my best advice.
My advice to students taking this course is simple. All you have to do is put in several hours on a computer. The work for the course is not hard, however, a lot of your time must be spent on assignments. A helpful hint is to start assignments early, so you will not be caught doing them last minute. If you follow these two tips you will be successful.
To learn more things about computer, you have to put a lot of afford and time to work on it. Actually, I am not a computer expert. I learn it day by day. It is hard for me to understand the new language, HTML. For my personal web page, I have spend three weeks to scan photos, learn frames and animation, and HTML. If you really want to learn the computer well, you have to put a lot of effort and be patient when you get loss.
My best advice for the class coming in is to practice. Don't get discouraged when you can't do something just try and don't be afraid to ask questions. The teacher can help yes but I found that the best help were my fellow classmates. They went through the same problems that you have been going through and they will probably help they also have the best ideas. Finally when you have to choose a group at the beginning of the class pick carefully because you will be spending long hours with them and you need to work well together. Don't be afraid to rebuke one another do anything it takes to do the job and do it well.
I really enjoyed this course. I have no complaints about the course. Except for the last part of the course with the web page assignments. I feel it is interesting, but very complicated through Telnet. The reason for this is because a new language is involved. If I may, I would suggest inputting the students into the telnet program at the beginning of the course. Then teaching through the Netscape Composer. Other than the Web Projects I enjoy the course and Ms. Karsten.
I would suggest that next semester's students keep this in mind: "Practice makes perfect", it really does. Another thing to keep in mind is that although something seems impossible at first just 'TRY' you may be surprised what you can learn. This has been the best advice I've ever been given: "It's okay if you do it wrong as long as you try". That came from my grade three teacher. Also, I would keep in mind that it always helps to make good friends, after all you never know when there expertise will come in handy.
My advice to all the students for next semester is to start learning html as soon as possible. It is a program that you can't learn over night if you want to have a page that is easy to follow. The powerpoint software is very easy to use so don't spend to much time on it. I do suggest to buy the web page book. I don't suggest to buy the powerpoint book. To be an "A" student you should always complete your weekly forums and to go to more than your schedule class.
If there was one piece of advice I would offer you it would be to accomplish every project that your teacher gives to you in this course. Also don't be to shy! If you have a question or comment be sure to approach your teacher and ask it. Your teacher will be willing to help you with any problems you may be having. This course enables you to be more familiar with computers which in the future will be extremely useful. Good luck!
My best advice for this course is to get a better text book. The more that is taught to the class the better they understand. The best advice I can give is to treat the class like they've never done anything with this program, web paging. If the class is treated that way then more detailed teachings will be needed and better work will be accomplished. The students also have to be dedicated but the teacher most also realize that this is their first time, which was done. The students should also be aware of the teacher in case they run into any problems. My best advice, you have your work cut out for you so be prepared to put in some long hours.
I found this course to be very interesting and very informative. This course gives you the knowledge you need to know when your out in the work force. The course has a lot of hands on work to be done so ever student can practice what they have learned. The only challenge with this course is keeping up with the work load that is expected. Overall a great course to take.
The only thing I can advise is to start working on your web page as soon as possible. Once you get the hang of it you can have a lot of fun. Don't fall behind, use your class time
Have time to spare, not anymore! This coarse takes up a lot of time and effort but it is easy. Expect an A for it. I also suggest that you spend time with your beef (girl boy whatever) because you would need their support.
When making a web page, if you are not too sure how to start, simply look at other web pages and click the right button. You can see exactly how the other web pages are made. You don't have to be a genius to have Javascript on your page.... find out how someone else did it and edit it to your preference. At one point, I was having troubles posting a picture onto my sight. After much frustration, I found that you can either re-scan the photo and make it brighter or use Corel in the annex and edit it. At first I was intimidated by making a web page and I came to realize that they can be a lot of fun if you take the time to relax and learn.
Hello there! Welcome to a course that will enable you to create amazing web pages, surf the net to interesting web sites, the construction and use of power point, and give you a greater ability to present in front of a large audience. The first useful tip would be to take your computer out for a cup of coffee and some dancing later on. Your computer is your best friend! So I advice you to love it as much as possible. The more you treat your computer with respect the more your computer will respect you. This course shows you the best ideas you could do with the touch of your finger tips! You are shown how to create your very own web page. As you will experience throughout this course, everything you do is important...and I do mean everything! In order for you to pass this course you must complete every task given! If you thought you tried your best on each assignment...try harder! Trust me your mind will take you to amazing places if you push it a little harder. With the help of this course your mind will thank you and give you a big kiss on the cheek! The second tip would be to get to know your teacher. They are very helpful, but of course they will not know if you have a question if you don't ask. So be sure to ask them any questions you might have regarding anything. You also could e-mail them as well. You got a question that just popped in your head...be sure to ask it as soon as possible...the sooner the better! The third tip if you have not done this already is to get your e-mail account activated as soon as possible! For those of you who have not took the time to say hello to the world in your computers then you better get started...the world awaits you! Believe it or not you will need your e-mail account for more important things then dirty jokes and e-mailing your pals (ya! I am looking at you!) So I think I gave you some cool tips to get started! I think you will enjoy this course! I know I have! The best of luck to you!
To the students of next semester!!!! Hello and Welcome:) My best advice to you, is to keep up to date with all of the forums that are given to you each week. It only takes a few seconds of your time, and it counts as part of your final grade. Also, there is only a few assignments that are due in this course that require handing in papers as opposed to the computer. Do them, it is definitely in your best interest. Enjoy this course, keep an open mind, and most of all make sure that you pick people who are willing to work in your group. This maybe a time when you have to stay away from your friends who don't work, and choose the ones who do. I was fortunate to have a good group of people who were willing to work. Not all of us can be so lucky. So choose carefully. Make sure out of all the text books that you buy, buy the one called CREATING AMAZING WEB PAGES. It is a red book, your prof. will give you more detail about it. It helped me quite a bit. I enjoyed it very much. I thought that this course was a definite plus. It is very easy to get an A(D) in this course. All you have to do is hand your work in on time. If there is a problem, email or talk to your prof, they are very willing to help. Lucky for you guys, my prof knows more for next semester, and will be able to answer your questions easily. I hope that all of you will enjoy this course as much as I have. It taught me a lot of useful information about different computer systems that are used in the business world today. I must say that this was a very beneficial course, and I hope that the students of next semester achieve nearly half as much as I did upon completion of the course. WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!:):):)
I wish I had been given advice in a lot of the things I have done. I also wish I had listened to a lot of the advice I have been given. But the one thing I will always tell people starting something know, whether it is a new class, or a new job. There is no better advice than 'always be prepared'. Play on the internet before you start the course, ask people questions about the net, or even just find out what are some peoples questions about the net, you may realize that you need to know more than you thought.
My advice to future students would be to ask for more time to complete the projects and assignments as they are very very time consuming! I found that I took extremely long with the making of my team and personal homepage. Expect that the server will go down! It happened to us and it will happen to you. Selia is a great teacher so go to class, she always has something of value to share, so don't miss it
Well, what can I say. Just make sure you attend every class even if you have to be there for 8:00a.m. - it's worth it. Also make sure you understand the concepts and if there is anything you don't understand, don't wait to the next topic. Selia is a great teacher and very helpful. She is always there whenever you need her. Ah, web pages! This was the most frustrating part in this course for me. You never know what to expect when working on the computer. Give yourself lots of time and why not, start ahead and plan your time. This is one of the courses that you will never want to miss. Take advantage of it and you will be amazed to see how much you will learn!
The best advice i can offer is that html should still be taught to understand the basics of html. The course should also have up to date programs on creating web pages. Power point is an advantage and should continue to be taught. Otherwise this was an excellent class with a great learning experience and of course the Selia was great and very helpful.
Some good advice would be to follow your weekly schedule on 'SELIA's' webpage. If you do not, you may fall behind in your work, and have to do it all in one day. That's not good. I feel that the class is very good for people that are novices in the field on computers and the net. Just follow the course closely. Ryan
This course was such an experience and lots of new thing to learn. You will learn things that will be very useful in other subjects. I am glad that this subject is offered to students
I don't feel that I would do anything different. My advice to next semester's students however, would be to attend all classes, keep up to date with the forums, buy the web book, and ask questions. This was a great course where I learned a lot and I know it will be beneficial in the future. Stay involved, have fun and guaranteed you will learn tons.
The only advice I can give is to spend more time working on the web pages, since they are the most complicated. Other than that it requires time and effort to complete the course.
Well, I can honestly say that this course was a lot of work. But everything is worth while. I suggest that you keep up with all the assignments and if you have questions just e-mail Selia and she is always glad to respond! For the group assignments I suggest that you pick people that you know are responsible and will work as hard as you will to get a good grade. I also think that all new students should start thinking creatively now because everything we did this semester requires thought. good Luck and work hard!
I think this is one of the courses that learn things with applications. You can not learn if you don't actually move your hand and do it. Time management is one of the most important issues, since all the assignments and presentations are very time consuming, so plan ahead. Although working on these new stuffs such as powerpoint and web pages are frustrating sometimes, but the rewards are lot more than that. Good Luck!!!
What I would tell other students to give themselves more time to do projects. Everything we do in this class takes a lot of time. To get a good mark they should go all out, and do the projects the way they want to do them. Selia Karsten is an effective teacher and I would be glad to have her again! Have a nice year teach, hope to se you again!
Wow, this course has been the most frustrating and the most rewarding course all at the same time! My advice to students for next semester is to ask questions! My biggest problems were due to the fact that I did not understand the concepts fully. This course takes a lot of time so don't leave things to the last minute. You never know when the server will be down so plan ahead. I did the forums every week so I didn't have to worry about them all at the end. This gave me more time to work on my web page. Web pages are very time consuming but they are also lots of fun! The information in the week by week will help you so read it!
Selia is very good at giving you the stuff that helps the most so listen to her. This is one class you don't want to skip. Important info is given at every class which makes it worth while to attend. The tools you learn here look very impressive on a resume so take advantage! Good luck to all, may the force be with you!
I must say this course was great experience and gave me great knowledge. My advice to future students would be to come to every class even though it starts 8 p.m. Just be there ask what ever you are not sure about or just e-mail teacher, I’m sure she will answer you very soon. Also, work on your PowerPoint presentations but start on web page as soon as possible (if possible start reading even before the teacher ask that from you). Making web page is sometimes frustrating , you can’t predict how much time it will take you to do something 5 min. or 5 hours.
I'm glad that I have an opportunity to learn how to create web page, though it is hard to certain extent. For next semester, guys should find a good team to work with, or else, it will be a pain in the ass. It had better to start your work as soon as you receive the assignment, since all the works are time consuming. Good Luck!!
My advice to people coming into this course would be to really concentrate on learning how to do a web page. The powerpoint is very easy to learn and very effective when giving a presentation. I feel that this course taught me a lot more about computers that will benefit me in the real world. THANKS!!!
I learned a lot from taking this course. I now know how to use PowerPoint effectively and efficiently for future presentations. My advice to students that are about to take this course is that if you show up to all the classes and pay attention you are almost assured of doing well.
Well this course has finally come to an end and I must say I came out knowing so much more about the internet than coming in! My advice to those that are coming into the course is to attend all of the classes, and if you are going to miss don't miss the important ones. I missed one class and we learned html and to this day I am still unsure about it. It was an interesting course and you certainly learn a lot about the internet, web pages and powerpoint. It was a good experience and an excellent tool you can use in life because our world revolves around computers.
My advice would be to really concentrate on the area of hooking the web page up to the server: file transfer protocol, chmod, public_html, etc. As far as I can tell, most of the people I spoke with about the course found that to be the most difficult part. Some people still don't know quite how it works. I find that Powerpoint is so simple, it teaches itself. Also, the Netscape Communicator Composer made HTML fun since it showed you exactly what you were going to see on your web page. My most important advice though would be to e-mail Selia with any problems. She always responds and usually the same day or the next day. Being able to access her through e-mail throughout the course made the course easy to understand since you practically had an online professor. Thanks Selia.
I suggest the course would teach more about web pages design and chmod language to help students get easier start on the first creating web pages. This course is excellent, I have learned Power Points and web pages design those are useful and update tools is used in business world. Have fun in this class and work hard! Good luck :->
The only advice I can really give them is to buy the web page book! I really wished I had known a little something about designing a web page before I started this course. It probably would have helped me considerably.
My advice to all you new comers is keep up with the forums!! The forums are not difficult so don't leave them till the end. I would also recommend that you buy the web page book because it is the most difficult thing to do. I wished I had known a little something about creating web pages before I went into this class.
The advice that I will give to the class of next semester is it is a great class. I would suggest them to take it seriously because it will be essential in the future. One thing that I wished I learned from the start was how to use composer instead of html. But overall I thought I learned vital skills that I will use into my future.
My advice to all new students who is to take this course, MRK530 will learn to present and create their own web page. Be prepared is one of the key success to this course. One of the way is to study the course outline in advance and gather all materials. Therefore you can acquire for help ahead of time.
This is a great innovative and practical course for students. Not only do we learn how to adapt to the world of computers but it also leaves one the opportunity to leave their trademark. The only suggestion I have is that when it comes time for the web pages products - that we are able to have more in depth help in creating it!!!! There's a lot to learn and it is a handful to swallow.
This course was very useful. I gain valuable experiences and technical skills, such as how to involve PowerPoint into my presentation and most of all building my own web page portfolio. This is a wonderful course but is also the course I have most trouble with. My advice is to do more hands on work whenever possible because practice makes perfect. Fooling around with the computer enables you to be more familiar with different program and how each one functions. Also do a lot of Internet surfing to expand your knowledge of mind and computer. The advice I provided you should be the procedure I wish had followed myself.
For new students I recommend to attend classes because this is a really great course. I suggest that web page projects due at the beginning of the course because exams are going on next week and some people have exams to study for.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!!!!! You must have been sweating through ICA last year and thought it was tough wait till you get a look at this! Ya right. I'm just kidding. Listen if you like computers you will like this course. If you don't trust me you will learn to. You learn such cool stuff like making a homepage and you can learn so much more about programs like powerpoint and also the internet. Some things I wished I knew before hand was more about Netscape Communicator 4.03. I was so used to 3.0 and there was not much of a difference but I got to see what composer was and how I could use it. As for presentations, if your not a good presenter such as me you will be surprised how powerpoint makes your presentation a whole lot better and make's you feel comfortable when you present. In conclusion, I think you as a student can learn a lot in this course and benefit in this in your future in marketing. Good Luck and have fun!!!
Make sure that you pay attention in class. Things may have a tendency to seem really complicated, but don't tune out. Take notes, watch the examples, and be sure to listen to Selia. She knows what she's talking about. Good luck!!
Try to get an early start on your assignments and make sure to buy the book or you will be lost. I would advise everyone to use the page composer it is far easier than entering in the codes. Try to take as many notes as possible and don't miss classes each one is very important.
The key to this course is to have fun. I have already used a number of the skills learned in class out in the working world, so it is a very practical course. I do have a few suggestions. Start playing around with your web pages right from day one. There is a lot to learn in a very short time. Your log book is your friend! I found I was juggling so many projects and going to so many web sites that it was the only way for me to keep track of it all.
This course can be a lot of fun depending on how you approach it. I suggest you look at it as part of your future career. Good Luck!
My advice to students next semester is to make sure you attend class on a regular basis and to ask questions when you don't understand something. In the beginning, things can seem overwhelming, but there are lots of people who can help. Other classmates, Selia, or the people in the Annex. This course is very valuable, and there is a lot of things you can learn that will help you in the future. Good luck.
The advise I would give them is to do the logs, write whetever you learned and attend class regularly. Be prepare for presentations, do ahead of time, ask questions when in doubt. Be prepare to work as a group and always catch up on forums for extra points. NEVER! do webpage the last minute, or big trouble. The one thing I should have done better is to know more of my classmate, so when I missed something I can ask. Plus I had a great teacher, so I will recommand Selia Karsten.
For all of you students who are taking this course next semester don't freak out. At the beginning of this course I really didn't know what I was in for. Things seemed very confusing to me and I didn't think I would make it through some of the projects. As the semester continued everything seemed to start to make sense to me. I was gaining more experience and knowledge in the computer and marketing world. Projects seemed to be no problem. Another thing to know is that there is always someone there to help you and Selia is great and I found her a big help to me this semester. Hope you all have fun!!!
I totally agree with my classmate because we all came into the class with little or no knowledge. She and I were partners along with another classmate and we helped each other through thick and thin problems. I suggest that you find someone that you can work well with both in and out of the classroom.
This course gives me a lot of personal satisfaction and pleasure. I have learnt how to use the power point and how to create my presentation through this amazine software. This course also provided me a chance to work with other classmates to create the team's web site and the group's presentation. It definitely can improve our interpersonal communication skill. Regarding to our individual web portfolio project, it has been hard work for me but the climb has been immensely rewarding. Finally you will find doing your web site project worth to spend some time or effort on it.
Now, I have completed my web page. I feel that it is hard to do and it spent a lot of time to find the pictures and information. So my advice is start doing your web page earlier. If you have a lot of problems, do not give up and keep trying and you must be patient.
I've read all the messages and there is not 1 thing I disagree and all wholeheartedly endorse. About the only extra advice I could give besides all this is to participate in the forums. You'll learn about your classmates and your teacher from reading the various forums. Best wishes for your class
The best advice that I could give someone is to relax, enjoy the class and think of it as a new adventure and a chance for personal expression. Get to know the class and don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions. There are no stupid questions. Most of all enjoy yourself. GGGGGOOOOOOOOOODDDDD LLLLLUUUUUCCCCCKKKKK.
Don't give up!!! If I can do it, every body can do it. Don't give up! My advice to you is don't miss classes, and if you don't know how to do something, ask other people. At the same time, share what you know with others. This way you learn faster. HAVE FUN!
Keep going !!!! After I took the course that I feel interest in the course. In my opinion I hope everyone start up your projects as soon as you can. Don't leave your work until last day. All of project that you should take long time to work on it. Text book is very useful to everyone and cheap. Don't save your money. Maybe in the text book that can solve your problems. Keep going.
To be successful in this course, remember to do all the work right away. Keep up the intensity and you will do very well! And choose your team members very carefully!!! If you don't have the right people in your group, you will not fare well. Just remember to let Selia know if you have any problems in advance, keep the communication lines open with her. Do the work and you will be on your way to an A!!! Good Luck!
The best thing I can tell you guys, is to enjoy this course as much as you can, because is great and also will be very helpful in future presentations. Try to have a good background in Power Point and also HTML.... and you got it!!!
First of all, if you want to take this course successfully, you must go through every single week page. By doing this, you seem to have an instructor with you whenever you need an assistance. Personally, I wish that I should have done more preparation for my first presentation. As far as I am concerned, I did not do it well. I could have done better. Therefore, I strongly suggest that you may want to rehearse before you perform.
My advice to students is to participate in class, ask questions, and finish their presentations and web pages in time.
Learning from and teaching others is the way we all should live. Not being afraid to ask for help when you need it because people are friendlier than you think.
Hi..All I can say is work hard and asks help when needed... Don't get intimidated with computers..their kewl heheh
My advice is to work together with classmates, this is because what you don't know you can learn from others. Once you have learned how to do something practice and use it, this way it will be remembered
Take your time and study HTML. It's a great stuff. Leave yourself at least two weeks for a final project. Go to all the classes.
New students, please don't leave your work until the last minutes! Manage your time. good luck and enjoy it!
Remember to come to class because although you may think it is slow it is not because if you miss something you are going to fall back. Trust me I know. Participate and don't take the class for a bird course because it is not. The things you will learn are important and difficult at the same time if you do not practice.
This is a cool course to learn the HTML but I think I still have to learn more because I feel the course have teach a lot but still have to do some work. Anywhere what I want to show is this is a great course
By taking this course I learned a lot about computer knowledge which I never even imagined of learning. I really liked this course a lot and most of all I actually enjoyed working in a friendly atmosphere. My advice for next semester students is that whatever you do in this class please don't fall behind on any assignments. For web pages use lots of HTML language. Also prepare everything on time. If you guys are doing everything right on time then you will get so many computer skills that will be helpful for you in future. Ms.Karsten is a very understanding and helpful teacher. I really enjoyed being in her class this semester. Take care.
I enjoy in this class because I can learn a lot of computer knowledge and exciting experience for me. I have learnt how to use e-mail, use power point, and of course how to create web pages. I know, this computer knowledge is very useful for me. I am very happy, I can study at your class because I never see a good teacher, like you. This is true. E.g. When I don't understand, you spend more time to explain for me. On the other hand, I am not happy because my team members are very lazy. I advice you might consider this problem, you can also improve your class in next semester. Anyway, I say again "thanks teacher". I would remember you forever, particularly. Take care! Bye Bye!
My best advice to the students that will be starting this course is given as follows from the bottom of my heart: 1. Since this course consists of learning all about presentations and web pages, and since you have to work both individually and as a member of a team; my best advice for you is: Find the right partners. Find people you can trust, people you get along with, people who respect yourself and your opinions. Communication is very important, if there is a communication barrier, find other team. 2. This computer course demands a lot of work, and is very time consuming, especially if you are not so familiar with computers, or if you do not have a computer at home. My best advice for you is that you spend at least two hours working on the assignments in the computer lab, every day, even if you don't have computer class. 3. Start learning about HTML right from the beginning because it is the core of the course and it is very, very confusing. Read textbooks about HTML, borrow them from the Library. When you have an idea about it, go to the computer lab and start working on it, get help from one of the Help Desk staff. They are very helpful. 4. Try to stay longer in school if you don't have a computer. The computer lab, is not so crowded in the evening. 5. Approach Selia every time you are in doubt. In my opinion, she is not only the best teacher at Seneca, but also as a person. In all my more than three years here at Seneca, and after having about a dozen of teachers, finally I met a professor who really cares for her students. 6. Finally, prepare everything on time, and try to combine your assignments from other subjects. For example, if you have to make a presentation for International Selling about a specific country, make it in power point for your computer presentation. Good Luck.
If you are planning to create your own web pages you have to consider this things: PATIENCE, DEDICATION AND EFFORTS. It is indeed time consuming but it is worth it. My advice to the students next semester is plan your web page ahead of time and work hard. Web pages do not need to have a specific purpose. You can create your own Web pages just for fun. By learning how to create and publish pages on the Web, you gain a skill that could be valuable in your current or future career. SOME HINTS: Know your audience, reasons for publishing web pages, web page content and prepare a layout to save your time.
I guess the best advice I can suggest to next semester students is to make sure that you don't fall behind on assignments. Also , I would have liked to have seen creating web pages more using HTML language. However, as far as the presentations were concerned , I think that you should be prepared and most of all relaxed. So , you could enjoy the experience. This has is fun class but the fact of the matter is that there is a lot of work to be done. Therefore , start with the end in mind and work hard.
