Subject: Best advice
My advice to new students who will be taking this course
is just to have fun! Take advantage of the relaxed environment, and meet
new people to allow you to be comfortable while presenting in front of
the class.
Complete all forums on time. They are pretty simple, and not very time consuming…so to loose marks for incomplete forums is just unnecessary. When deciding on a topic to present, choose one wisely. The more interested you are in your topic, the better time you will have presenting. If you don’t believe in your topic, the audience won’t believe in your presentation.
It is also crucial that you choose your team wisely. You don’t want to be stuck will people who don’t take the course seriously. It will just cause conflict with in the group, and stress you out. Most importantly have fun, and take advantage of the opportunity to become a better presenter, because it will benefit you greatly in the future
Subject: Re: Best advice
My advice to someone who is taking this class is to relax
and pay close attention to what is said in class. I think that this class
gets a student well prepared for whatever presentations that comes along,
and helps you understand computers in a totally different view. You should
complete all asignments on time, try to make it to class and work well
with your group...group participation is a very important aspect in this
class.
have fun and relax.
Subject: Bits of advice
- Try to play around and explore with the applications
you are to use for making your presentations to familiarize yourself with
the interface. This will also lead you to discovering tricks and features
not taught in class!
- Remember that you are amongst friends and fellow students who are more or less feeling the same way you are about these assignments and presenting them. So be comforted by that fact and have fun!
- I don't want to sound like I'm advertising or something (I don't get any commission anyways...) but if possible download/use Macromedia's Dreamweaver for your page-making...its easier, has a lot more fancy shmancy features available without requiring you to know ANY html! lol
ok i can't think of anymore...everything is so cliche now that everyone else's mentioned everything possible lol
Subject: Advice!
The people who posted already gave some really great
advices and suggestions. Picking the right members for the group projects
is very important. I was lucky enough to have great members who all worked
hard and wanted to put in the time and effort into getting the good grades.
Another thing is to relax and enjoy the course. The course isn't that difficult
if people take the time out each week to participate in the forum and to
read the weekly schedule updates that Selia posts. Another thing is, practicing
pays off, especially for those who are nervous. Other than that, I guess...
enjoy the class, have fun with the projects and get to know your classmates!
:)
Subject: The Best Advice!!
For people who would be taking this course, my advice
is that it really is a great course to practice your presentation skill
and to learn new techniques to become a more effective presenter.
In this course you would find that everyone works in
a very friendly environment and you get to learn a lot of new things not
just from the professor but also from your fellow students and that’s one
thing great about this course.
And you will get a lot of opportunities to do whatever
interests you, basically this course is about what you want to do, Selia
won't just give you a few topics and then you will have to choose from
them, you can choose whatever topic you want and like.
And last but not least, that it's a great course to polish
your skills and take as much advantage as you can from this course.
Subject: Advice
From the start of the semester, I wish I had taken the
time to get to know everybody in the class. But thinking back, it is probably
because of all the computers blocking everything? As far as the assignments
and presentations go, I think that it's important for future students to
know even though the class seems really laid back, they should still take
their work seriously and not leave things for the last minute because the
final grade still matters. With that said, when you try to finish things
earlier, you get more time to explore your options and be more creative,
in end, there's more satisfaction with your final outcome. For the portfolio,
at the moment, I still don't know how to upload it using the FTP, so I
can't exactly give advice on that yet. But overall, students should think
of this course more of a benefit to them, and not take the easy way out
for any of the assignments, because in the future, if they are planning
to get into marketing, doing well in this course will help them to practice
being a good candidate for the job.
Subject: my best advice for this course.
Do not leave your work to the last minuite. This is something
that i have frustrated myself with and it was definately a hard lesson
to learn because this is my usual trend in all of my other courses. But
you cannot wing this course. You have to be patiend and do it. It's not
like you wouldn't have ample time anyway.
Subject: Best Advice
The best advice that I could give for this course would
be to get into a good group. Make sure that you can work with the people
in your group and you all have timetables that are similar so that you
have time to meet with one another. Another suggestion I would give would
be to actually meet with your group instead of trying to do everything
on your own and then bring it together right before the presentation. My
last bit of advice I would give you is to make sure you participate in
each discussion forum because you get easy participation marks!
Enjoy your semester!
Subject: A word of advice!
Good grades are not difficult to achieve if you put the
time and effort to it. My number one advice that I can never learn to follow
for myself is that you should never leave things until the last minute.
Starting on an assignment or project early allows time to make your mistakes
as well as time to solve them by asking your professor for help. If a problem
occurs the night before the due date and you've just discovered it, you
don't have enough time to contact your professor. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE
(if you can help it =)...and attending class regularly might be real helpful
for you too !
Subject: Some Advisory
My best advice for any students taking this course in
the fall would be to STAY ON THE BALL!!
This is definitely not a difficult course but there are
a number of things that you must have done. If you do not waste any time
and just get cracking on assignments when they are assigned, you will not
have any problems. Also having access to the internet at home is crucial
because with the amount of group projects and reminders from Selia it is
important to be able to hop on the net when you need. Unfortunately, I
didn't have that benefit at home so I know how difficult that really was.
My last piece of advice would be to just have fun, this is not strenuous
course so take what you learn, put it to good use and have fun with it!!
Subject: Good Advice
Enjoy yourself.....make sure that you have fun with every
presentation.
Take advantage of Group Work.....get comfortable working in a group enviroment because you'll be doing more of it in real life.
Gain Knowledge.......Make sure you learn what's taught because all of it will be useful later on in the program as well as in your career.
Subject: Advice
The best advice I can give is to believe in God and believe
in yourself because anything is possible.
Subject: Advice that I should be taking!
Some advice that i would give students is to do their
forums. Their easy and really not that time consuming. It's a great class
and the assignments are fun (once you get the hang of them!)
Another piece of advice is to pick your groups wisely because you are going to do a couple of assignments with them.
Do all of your assignments!!! They're not that difficult and if you have problems, there's always somebody there to help you out. So don't be shy and don't hesitate to ask!!!
Subject: SOME ADVICE
Here are some tips that should be useful to you when
you start MRK 224
1. Go to class - Selia is great at keeping her site up to date. so if you happen to miss a class, don't worry, but it is always better to go. you'll learn more.
2. Do the forums - its easy marks, there interesting, they make you think, and they really aren't time consuming.
3. participate
4. Do all the assignments - This is not like any of your other classes. The assignments are really fun and interesting, and they aren't too hard either.
Finally, enjoy the class. Choose your groups wisely and have fun!
Subject: The Best Advice
My biggest piece of advice is to relax and try your best.
Most of the assignments require you to be creative and unique. This isn't
so common in other classes.
Don't be nervous. Everyone in the class has a little
fear of presenting, but you soon get used to it. Get to know the people
in your class because it is easier to present in front of friends than
in front of strangers. Also it helps to be able to talk to someone if you
have problems with assignments.
Do all the forums, they're easy to complete and the marks
do add up. Start the assignments early so you have time to go back and
make adjustments. It will only get better and you wont stressing out the
night before.
Pay attention to your evaluations after the presentation,
it helps you improve for the next time.
And last but not least, don't let your team mates down.
You are all in this together. When you don't do your part your team suffers
too. Keep in mind that you will see these people throughout the whole semester
and have to do many group projects together.
If you follow all this advice you'll do great in this
class. But remember to also have fun.
Subject: i got some advice for you
Keep an open mind and learn to accept the themes and
approach of the course. The ability to comunicate is like sunshine to a
plant, it can help you flourish. Learn confidence because this is the most
important hidden theme of the course. This course has the potential to
help you become a speaker(YOU CAN BE HEARD)It is also a forum to teach
you to manipulate an audience which is more important than you will ever
realize.. have fun cuz the moment it stops being fun youve lost!
Subject: Advice
The advice I give to students just taking this class
in the future is that HAVE FUN WITH IT!. While having funwith it do all
the forums and praticipate at every chance you get and i promise you'll
come out of it with better confidence to stand up infront of a group of
people and present your topic.
Subject: From Me to You!
If I had to give any advice to a future MRK224 student
it would be to have fun with this course! If you feel comfortable in front
of your class, you will succeed! Make friends with as many people as you
can and don't leave ANYTHING to the last minute! Also, choose your teams
wisely, not just because that guys good looking or that girl is smart.
Pick people you can depend upon and people that will help you even in indvidual
assignments and treat it like it is a group assignment. Picking your team
will either make or break your semester!

Subject: Piece of Advice
This course is actually fairly tedious in most aspect.
Although it is not a course with great difficulty in it's contents, but
it consists of many different types of assignments. It would be greatly
useful if you already possess the knowledge of using a variety of computer
programs. Although the assignments do not require the use sophisticated
graphics, but being able to use many computer programs will certainly put
you on the edge. There without doubts owning or being able access a computer
with the tools you need with relative easy, and also with Internet access
would make life easier.
Communication skills is also greatly recommended. Due to that fact that most of the assignments and projects are group projects, added to the fact that they must be presented. The fact is although none of these are prerequsites for the course, and many tools and knowledge that you need is supposed to be taught in class. It never hurts to put effort to obtain skills beyond the course that will certainly aid you in the course.
