The best advice that I could give the new-comers to this course is to make sure that you don't leave your assignments to the last minute, always make eye contact with your audience, don't read off the screen, and when it come to doing the HTML make sure that you use all of the tools given to you. It will take you a while to troubleshoot your web pages, so make sure you do them ahead of time to allow for the unexpected. In the end the time spent on troubleshooting will be well worth it when you see your final product.

4. Do the forums...it's a good way to get 20 participation marks....
5. Think about it before you choose a group to work with..you will be working with them all semester...pick people who are focused, wanna do well, and people who won't be shy to get up and have a good time with their audience.

Subject: advice anyone?
I think the best advice for people starting this course is that its important to meet as many people as possible in the class, its always good to network and ud be suprised the stuff that people know, but you have to talk to them! Given alot of the course is group based, make sure you get a kick ass group, these are the people that are responsible for your grade as much as you are, so choose wisely. Be sure to come to class and do these forums, ask questions if you don't understand, don't be shy, none of us are going to totally understand everything, so when in doubt, ask away. Lastly, have an open mind, its easy to stick up your nose and say "i dont know computers" and saying that early in the course really sets you up for doing poorly, so stick with it, look at it with an open mind, and most importantly, HAVE FUN, thats what it's all about.

Subject: Good Advice About This Course!!!
If you are going to take this course you will have to prepare thouroughly, and not wait last minute to finish your presentations. While presenting be enthusiastic, and make eye contact. That way the audience is always interested and they won't be bored while you are presenting. Complete all assignments and listen closely to the instructions given by the professor.

Subject: Some Friendly Advice!!!
For all you new students, here's some advice

1. If you have Selia, you're already on the part to success. She's a wonderful, friendly, teacher and she will help you every step of the way, all you have to do is ask. Dont be shy because she will go all out to help you once she knows

2. When doing team work, choose a strong team. You have to work with these people for several projects and you dont want to be pulling extra weight. Also you want people who will make you stand out just as much as you will make them stand out!

3. In the beginning, you will probably be afraid to get up in front the crowd and present but remember that even those students who look indimidating and confident have some fear in them also. Everyone is feeling the same way so just go forth and do it!!

4. When doing group presentations, acknowledge the ideas from past classes but be original. Being unique and different is always refeshing for the class.

5.Do forums...easy way to build marks

6. Just work hard, come to class regularly and have FUN!!!!

Subject: Best Advice
The best advice i would give to someone who takes this course next year is to always be prepared. Never wait for last minute preparations because then certain things may not work. Also make sure you are a confident talker infront of people and make good eye contact.

Subject: Advice from a past student!!
Here is some tips to help you get through the MRK 224 class:

1. Show up to class! This is a fast moving course and if you miss classes it is easy to fall behind. Also, Selia gives good instructions, plus it is an easy way to generate marks.
2. Use and know the link provided like the back of your hand. This link from Selia is so up to date and very easy to use once you've browsed it a couple of times.
3. Something that could make or break your mark is the group you pick for the projects. Find people who are willing to give a hundred and ten percent. Find a strong group that will not bail on you when the going gets tough. P.S. match your outfits while presenting materials!! it works!!!
4. Presenting in front of the class may be difficult at first, but once you start doing it, it will feel natural. Eye contact, clear voice and energy makes it that much more effective. I mean that's what this class is all about isn't it?? Presenting.
5. PowerPoint presentations: USE GRAPHICS rather than text. Too much text can loose the audience.

If you follow these 5 steps you will end up with an A in this course. Good luck!

Tips for the new-comers to this course:

1. During presentation, keep eye contact with the audience
2. Ask for help
3. do your work
4. Come to classes
5. Do the forums

Subject: Some Advice
The only way to fail this course is by not doing the work that has been assigned. Participation counts, and just by doing the forums, which takes 2 minutes, will give you an easy 20 marks. Also a very important factor in presentations class is preperation. Make sure you are prepared and don't leave things to the last minute. And be creative by differentiating yourself from the rest of the class, so that your presentation grabs the audience's attention instead of putting them to sleep.

Subject: LISTEN UP!
This class is one of the most enjoyable classes this semester. It is fun, easy but challenging too. To do well in this class, follow these simple rules:

1] Attend every class!

2] Ask questions about assignments and forums at the start of the semester. It might be a little confusing.

3] Complete all the assignments with full effort

4] Add a little more to your assignments than what is just required.

5] Feel confidant when you present. It shows!

Subject: For the Rookies
OK- Some things that new students should know and pay attention to!

- Should come to every class, the later on the semester goes on, the more you will find this to be true. Especially for people who are computer illiterate, you will find that you will have many many questions!

- Try not to leave assignments to the last minute. Trust me they may seem easy enough but the longer you leave them they really do pile up. Also the sooner you start something the more time you have to ask questions. It sucks to have something due the next day and all of a sudden have problems the night before!

-Be confident when presenting. Just treat presentations like you are simply informing someone on something. Besides, it does help you get those marks.

- Have fun! it's definitly a nice break to have a class like this so have fun with it!

Subject: Advice for 224 students
Make sure you read the text book before you do any of the presentations. There is lots of great information in it that will really boost your ego while presenting. It tells you about voice tones, using props, and presentation techniques.

For those who get really nervous presenting -- do not worry! Everyone else in the class must also present, so just be confident. Know your information well and the presentations will be a breeze. Most of all, enjoy yourself.

Subject: Best advice
To start off have a good teacher like me I have Selia Karsten, she is the best teacher to learn from because over the course she modifies the work in class for students to receive the information better. Next always attend class to know what is going on and get all your assignments done. If you need help there is the teacher and also you have friends in the class you can ask for help. I wish that I had known or done differently is know what to expect in the presentation because for me I was clueless and I just waited until the last minute to get the work done and that is not smart. All well I have learn my lesson and here I hope no one done what I have done.

Subject: Advice!

3. Ask questions if you have any problems, Selia will be more then willing to help you out!

4. Use class time wisely!! This is the perfect opportunity to see what you need help on, as well as to save the amount of work that has to be done outside of class

6. When forming groups for powerpoint presentations, choose people that are willing to put effort into all assignments as well as people you work well with.

7. Read all the criteria for any assignments given, so you are aware what Selia looks for, and also to see if you have included everything

Subject: Advice for MRK224
Some people would consider this a "bird-course," but it's not. It is not that difficult, but it does required a reasonable amount of time, teamwoork, creativity, and making used of critical advice given from your presentations. The one things I reccommend are, get yourself in a team with people you work well with, and you can depend on to do their work.

Subject: HUDDLE

Subject: MRK 224 Advice
The best advice that I could give new students that are taking Marketing 224, is to pay close attention when learning the websites. I had a fair amount of problems as I'm sure everyone did, but most of all do your web pages well in advance of the due date, that way the trouble shooting isn't so stressful and brutal to deal with at the last minute before you present. Appear to be confident even when your not, everyone gets nervous when they are in front of the class, but dont read off your paper's or sites, and be sure to make eye contact and even a little hand gestures or movement so you dont look like a rock standing still.

1) do assignments on time

Subject: Best Advice
A way to fail this course is by not being prepared and organized to work. Participation is an easy 20 points that could be gained. An important factor in this class would be to be prepared for presentations. You want to show your best presentation skills and get your message across the class. Leaving things to the last minute is a bad choice because anything can go wrong and you won't have enough time to fix it. Being creative while presentating is a good factor because you don't want the audience being uninterested.

Advice
1. come to the class and be there on time.
2. always keep checking the course homepage schedule and make
sure what is going to do next.
3. just ask selia if you have any question about the project
4. keeping good eye contact with audience when u doing present.
5. look the previous class project. it helped a lots.

Subject: The best advice
The best advice that I can give to people just starting this class is that they feel comfortable while doing a presentation, and if you are nervous just remember that everyone else in the class is going to have to get up and present too. Other than that just make sure to get ahead start on assignments, so that you don't end up doing them the night before.

Subject: Newcomers...
The best advice that I could give is read the teachers online notes, especially if you have Selia Karsten. If anything is not clear, the notes explain everything in good detail, along with tips and tricks that the teachers are looking for in assignments. Secondly, dont leave assignments to the last minute. This course may seem like a birdy course, but if you procrastinate, you will suffer the consiquences. Finally, the web pages are not as hard as they may seem. Just remember, Netscape Composer is basically like a word processing program such as Word.

As for the presentations, just remember to keep cool, eat before you present, and dont go into it blind, know your content!
