Selia Karsten BA, BEd (equiv) MFA, EdD

Dr. Selia Karsten, winner of the 2000 International College Teaching and Learning award for innovative excellence in teaching, learning and technology, has a special interest in cultivating student creativity.

Her projects include CD ROM and video-taped learning materials and web-based courses
for classroom and on-line. Professor Karsten teaches Computer Applications , E-Commerce and Web-Based Learning at Seneca. She is very active on curriculum development teams for online courses. She also delivers computer workshops at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto where she completed her doctoral work in Computer Applications and Holistic and Aesthetic Studies in1999.

Through Karsten Productions she produces on-line learning modules for McGraw-Hill Ryerson and Thomson Learning. At Astralsite.com she is building websites for educators, artists and caregivers. She is webmistress and an active member of the Holistic Educator Group at OISE/UT where she will be teaching Holistic Educator in the Information Age in the winter of 2002.

Selia's background includes directing, producing, designing, writing and performing in the theatre, video production, multimedia, life skills counseling and career development, prior learning assessment, and alternate modes of course delivery. Her interests span photography, writing, graphics, languages, martial arts, scuba diving and travel.
