1. Presentations are not as scary as you may think
2. If you don't understand something make sure to ask the only dumb question is the one you did not ask.
3. Take into consideration your classmates comments on your presentations after all they may just help you to improve your skills
4. Try to have fun while presenting, involve the class, think of it as a group discussion rather than a presentation.
5. Present about stuff you know about that way you will feel more comfortable.
2. Relax and just have fun because your classmates are your friends.
3. Be well prepared don't wait till the last minute to finish your assignments.
4. Learn from your previous presentations for improvements.
5. Be creative so you can capture audience's attentions.
The best advice for anyone taking this course in Sept. is that they need not be discouraged for the first week or two. Expectations are to improve throughout the course, and not know everything at the beginning.
Practice is a useful piece of advice that most overlook. Practicing an oral presentation helps add the confidence needed to produce a successful presentation.
Talk to your peers, they can help with content, help boost confidence and help take the pressure off.
Listen attentively. Sometimes it's hard to advance to the next step when you're stuck on a lower rung.
Don't bite off more than you can chew. Take baby steps, the presentations get easier as you go, don't try to incorporate all the skills you learn at once. Implement those skills slowly over time.
Have fun with a crowd! Audiences can add all kinds of energy and excitement; play off the crowd.
When you do the power point, look at the tips that professor give you. Or you can ask classmates how to do it. Sometimes, you can look at your classmates? power point then you can have more idea to create your own.
About the web site, you should look at the previous class. There are many examples to help you to build your own web site. Also you can research online; there is a lot of information to give you ideas.
Here is a easy way to get mark, that is to do every forum on time and
finish your assignment on time.
* Have confidence in yourself!
* "Network" with your peers -- talk, chit-chat,
mingle...get to know them! (You'll have to work with them during the semester
-- many of the assignments are group work.)
* Getting up to present in front of an audience
can be nerve-racking...BUT know that EVERYONE in the class will have to
present at one time or another. The first presentation can be the hardest,
but after presenting several times, you just get used to it. Knowing how
to present effectively is very important in Marketing.
* Enjoy working with computers. In this course,
you get to work with Powerpoint and you get to build websites. After this
course, it's nice to apply the skills that you've learned to your future
computer projects.
* Be creative!
* HAVE FUN! This is one of the best courses to take
within the Marketing Program! (Just ask anyone who's taken this course
before.)
I think the most important thing in this course is talk. You have to
talk! I know many people get scare to talk somebody. Specially, international
students, English is not the first language to them so usually they do
not want to talk in English. But I truly believe if they want to prove
their English, the only way to prove speaking skill is practice. Presentation
is tell your ideas to other people. You have to learn how to organize your
thinks and ways to present nicely. If you follow my advice, you can get
A in this course.
1. Choose an interesting topic.
2. Speak cleanly and loudly.
3. Make some nice gestures.
4. Make an eye contact with audiences.
5. Use nice tools such as power point, it will make your presentation very effectlively.
6. Make a nice visual like beautiful lay outs for power point when you use some tools
7. Have a confidence and do not be shy.
8. Presentation should be very organized like a good introduction, body
and conclusion.
Well that's all I can think of...Good luck to you all!
2. Choose your group wisely so you wont regret.
3. Be friendly with classes and your group mates
4. Do all your work at least one day before you have to present
5. Take notes when teacher says something important.
Best luck.This course is fun
1. Do your assignments ahead of time so you don't need
to rush at the last minute.
2. Prepare your presentation ahead of time and rehearse
your presentation a couple time.
3. Do all your discussion forms because this will help
your grade go up
4. Start doing designing your web site as soon as you
start the course
5. Pick people who have different talents to be your group
members for an example some one with the knowledge of web design.
You should go to class every day. You should do every forum on time. Getting basic ideas from professor, and create some interesting thing by yourself. After you done your presentation, you should ask the feedback. You should know what you did well, and something you need provide. You should keep good relationship with you classmate, that make you feel much more comfortable when you presenting.
Do not be nervous, be brave!!
To be perfectly honest. i would not have done it any other way, this
is the first time that i have actually noticed my progress throughout a
semester. The course is structured in a way which allows for practical
and the atmosphere and relationships made in this class will help you get
over the fear of presenting really quick.
1. if you are a skipper, don't take the course because they take attendance
2. standing in front of audience is not as hard as you imagine
3. don't miss every single little work of the class, then receiving an A will be just a piece of cake
4. be more creative, the feedback of the audience also represent your succeed
5. learn more to draw people's attention
6. prepare your work earlier and practice
more.
The first thing that I will tell new students is to manage their time
properly. As soon as they receive any assignments they should start
on them as soon as possible. One of the things that I have regretted
the most is working too much. If school is their number one priority
then they concentrate on that and find time to do their assignments because
in the long run they will benefit. I would also tell them to choose
their partners for group projects wisely. Also students should take
advantage of free tutoring that is provided from the school. If there
is something that they don't understand they should take care of that matter
instantly before it becomes more difficult. For example, they can
always get extra help from the teacher or ask their peers. In order
to do well, it's important to think of these advantages. Time management
is the key. They can do well in school and have a fun, stress free
social life at the same time.
There are many things that I would like to tell the students taking
this class but the most important point I would tell them is use your time
wisely. Deadlines tend to creep up on you in this class and presentations
are all about preparation so make sure you are ready to go when it is your
time to present. Another piece of advice I would like to give them
is to choose your team mates wisely. Make sure that the people in
your group are responsible and will do their share of the work. Finally,
the last piece of advice I would give them is make sure you do the forums.
Although they are very easy and take a couple of minutes to do, make sure
you get all of them done because they are 20% of your final mark!
Follow my 3 simple but effective tips and you will definitely do well in
this course.
My advice is quite straightforward as it pertains to the MRK224 class.
1. Always be prepared
2. Manage your time wisely
3. Have confident as you establish eye contact with your audience because even if you fear talking in front of a crowd, just think there are others like you and think this is something that you have to do, you can't run from it .....This is your career choice to be a marketer. SO DEAL WITH IT!!!
4. Have a sense of humour. Your audience will love you for that.
5. Take an active role in your group and always try to perform your task to the best of your ability.
6. Continue to improve your presentation. Never think that you are too
good of a presenter that you don't need to practice because you are a fool
to think that.
The best advise I would give to the students who will be taking MRK 224 is to take full ADVANTAGE of what's being taught and offered to you in this course. There is a lot of useful information and skills you can gain if you're not lazy. One of the main goals of this course to teach how to become a good presenter and you will be one, if you practice! There are some need points you should consider to follow or make them as if that would've been your "bad habits"!
1) You should organized yourself first, in order to know what to do!
2) Time Management is a crucial skill to learn and adopt to in anything you do! You literally have to time yourself in performing a certain things within the time limits and dead lines that were given to you.
3) Learn how to learn! You have to find those best approaches that work for you and practice, practice, practice! The more you do it- the better you become in whatever you do! And finally, you're just will get use to it, so it will become one of your routine things.
4) Choose your partners, if you are working in team, very carefully!
It is very important that you pick the right people that you think
like yourself and want to learn things. That may help you to work through
your projects and assignments a lot and do a better job together OR
it may make it stressful and miserable all the way through.
BUT, no matter how it goes, you must learn one thing: take the best
out of what you see for yourself and learn it, because in real world it's
going be only harder not easier.
There are many good ways I suggest new student to take MRK224:
1) Let everybody know this course is so funny and useful. We can improve our speaking skill and know how to work with each people.
2) You should prepare all things before you choose this course and know what will you do in this class.
3) Good thinking is important for this class, such as how to make your presentation perfect and active.
4) Don't be shy in this class. If you haven't participate with each other, you will lose a mark. You should become a good active role in the group, that will be attract to the audience.
5) You should know how to manage your time.
6) Keeping your good job, and relax , don't be exciting and afraid in
this class. You can find many surprise from it.
The best advice that I can give to future students of MRK224 is that
the more effort you put into the course the more you will gain from it.
Some students believe that the course is not that challenging and thus
try to meet the minimum expectations and get on with their lives.
I was perhaps one of them. Unless you grow money (or marijuana) in
your backyard, you have in one way or another paid hard-earned money for
this course. Therefore, remember to get the best return on your investment
and set yourself a personal challenge of becoming the best presenter you
can be. Manage your time wisely, conduct yourself professionally,
and work with other students, because if you can't form a strategic alliance
in the classroom, how can you possibly form one in the business world.
Last but not least, have fun!!! This is not a course where you sit
in a chair the entire time and try not to fall asleep, so leave the coffee
at Tim Horton's and bring your enthusiasm instead!
My best advice for new student taking this course are:
1) Be TIME CONSCIOUS always do your work NOW not later.
2) Always fill the weekly forum before it's closed, each of them is 2% of your mark and 20% of final marks.
3) Practice before the presentation, it helps a lot.
4) Be friendly and cooperative, you will have to work with 3 other people throughout the semester
5) Obey simple instructions and attend classes
If you take this advice, there is no doubt that you get A+ in the course
because this course is really easy and does not require much reading.
Be wise now.
There are some advice that i would like to give them. The first, make
sure you will attend every class. Attendance is very important and you
have to believe that it will affect your final mark. If you attend every
class maybe the teacher will give you some bonus on your final mark. The
second, you really should know how to manage your time, especially on the
second period of the semester. It is not easy to do an excellent work in
one or two days. When the teacher give you the assignment, you should start
as soon as possible. Then you will have enough time to prepare for it.
The third, if you want to get high mark of this course, you have to give
yourself some confidence. This is a course of presentation. You have to
show your confidence when you present. If you feel nervous then you should
practice more and get improved.
I would definitely suggest coming to every class and trying to get as much work done in class as possible. This way if you have any problems or questions the Prof. is there to help.
Good luck!
My best advisee for the students who are planning to take this course will be:
- Attend class on regularly basis (you never know what those attendance can do for you)
- Start the assignment as soon as you receive it, last minute thing does not work well for this course
- Choose your team members wisely (if possible, choose the people you have worked with before and you know their attitude toward school, FRIENDS might not be your best choice)
- Even though the assignments in this course aren't that difficult but it takes lot of time to do it, so plan your time table ahead of time
- Complete all the forums, they worth more than you can think of.
That's about it. Good Luck to you all.
There is only one main thing that any new student has to focus on when
they come into this program. That is TIME MANAGEMENT! The work that is
given out isn't really difficult that you need to sit there and study it
over and over but to be able to obtain a good mark you need to put the
time and effort into the assignments. The assignments need to be well organized
and put together. Basically you are getting a taste of what it will be
like to put together presentations in the work force.
to attend every class. There is no real 'homework' if you stay in class and complete your work. there's plenty of non lecture time during class so make the most of it.
Post messages to the forums. Easy marks. The participation points are just lying there waiting to be taken.
Organize your assignment deadlines. That way you'll never lose track of when they need to be done.
Reading the text at least once might help.
If none of the above works for you, pray!! and pray REAL HARD!! Hehe
The best advice I can give anyone taking this course, or for that matter, any course, is Time Management! Although the projects and assignments are easy, and once you get into it, fun to do, they really are time consuming. Never leave your work to the last minute, because if you do, your work will be rushed, and your final product won't be up to your best ability!
