Submitting Assignments to SafeAssign

Each of your assignments must be submitted by the due date both to the professor and to "SafeAssign", the plagiarism detection service used by Seneca College. No assignment will receive a grade unless it is submitted to SafeAssign.

Follow these easy steps to submit assignments to SafeAssign:

  1. To ensure a successful upload to SafeAssign, first save and close the file containing the assignment you wish to submit.
  2. Log onto your My.Seneca web page.
  3. Click on the appropriate course page (e.g. CAN 217 or CAN 418 or EAC 289).
  4. Click on "Assignments".
  5. Click on the" View/Complete " link under the name of the assignment you are submitting.
  6. If you wish, add comments that you would like submitted with the assignment.
  7. Click on "Browse" to locate your assignment file on your computer.
  8. Click on the file name to insert the file.
  9. Once ready, click on "Submit".
  10. Once you have received a message that the file has been received, click on " OK " and you are done!

Note: Safe Assign accepts these specific text file formats: doc, docx, odt, txt, rtf, html and pdf. It does not accept a regular PowerPoint presentation file. Therefore, if you have used PowerPoint to prepare your assignment, you will need to save it as a pdf file or in rtf format and submit that file to SafeAssign. To do this, first be sure to save the file as a PowerPoint presentation. Then click on " file ", " save as ", " save as type " , scroll down the choices in the box, and select "pdf" or " Outline/RTF (*.rtf) ". Submit this file to SafeAssign. Submit your PowerPoint file to the professor.

Note: Before submitting your assignment, please save and close the file properly to avoid any possible problems. Having the file open may prevent the upload of your assignment.

Note: You also have the option of adding the paper to the Global Reference Database. This will detect other students attempting to use your assignment in the future.
